With classes in full swing, it's important to lay out the rhythm of the entire semester. Here are some helpful tips to get you started off right!
Plan ahead
This could be homework and studying time to workouts, and even your meals. Planning ahead always makes you feel relaxed. Make sure you find a time management system that works best for you, and don’t worry if it changes from semester to semester. Plan when you are going to do homework, study and spend time on your personal health (which includes eating!). Leaving anything up to chance very rarely turns out well.
Communicate with the people around you
Not specific on who to communicate with? Well, that is deliberate because, as students, we tend to get caught up in our work that we rarely take time to communicate with others. Make sure you communicate with your friends, family and even your professors! If you are struggling, reach out. Communicate. If you make it a habit to have open lines of communication early on, it will feel more natural later on during finals when things are getting stressful.
Stay on campus
I know, seems like a silly tip, right? You are probably saying, “But Kristin, I have work and other obligations I need to attend to.” That is fine! But of you see that you have a little extra time to kill between classes and when you absolutely have to leave for work, explore the building. Are you doing homework and studying somewhere else? Stay on campus for that! If you do this early in the year you might find that you will meet new people and more opportunities might come your way!
